Filed Under (Zombie Movies) by Cosmo on 28-07-2012

Deadline is reporting that Marvel’s TV division is in talks with ABC and ABC Studios about developing a drama series set in the world of The Avengers.

The site says: “I hear that the connection to the Avengers franchise would be light as the project is expected to be set in the universe and feature some of its themes and feel but may not include any characters from Joss Whedon’s blockbuster. I hear the project is in a nascent stage, described as “a kernel of an idea,” with a number of scenarios explored, including a high-concept cop show.”…………… “

How Does A ‘World War Z’ Video Game Sound? (Hint: It Sounds Great)

” ….  If you haven’t read Max Brooks’ mind-blowingly good novel, I highly suggest you do so. It’s sad, terrifying, occasionally disturbing, and consistently an excellent read. As the book nerds say, it’s a real page turner. Do people still say that? The Kindle and Nook might’ve killed that term off, but “it’s a real finger swiper” or “a real button presser” just doesn’t sound as fierce. Anyway, the film is struggling a little, but that should hopefully come out next summer. Thankfully, that’s not all that’s cooking, because we also now have the possibility of a World War Z video game. This news comes from a trademark filed by Paramount Pictures that covers downloadable electronic game program, electronic game software, and video game cartridges/discs…. ”

The Walking Dead Head to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights

Filed Under (Zombie Movies) by Cosmo on 20-07-2012

” Rumored for some time, Universal Studios has confirmed that “The Walking Dead” is joining their popular Halloween Horror Nights later this year. Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood will be joining forces with AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” letting visitors to both theme parks experience the horror of AMC’s blockbuster original series in elaborately themed, haunted mazes. It marks the first time that a television series has joined Halloween Horror Nights on both coasts.

The Golden Globe-nominated, Emmy Award-winning, series “The Walking Dead” is based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The series tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. “The Walking Dead” is the number-one drama series in basic cable history for adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

Universal Studios’ Halloween creative teams are working with AMC and “The Walking Dead,” to create an authentic experience that is true to the Emmy Award-winning hit series. The haunted mazes on both coasts feature eerily authentic, elaborately designed, movie-quality sets that include some of the most iconic locations and scenes from the show. Mobs of undead walkers bring to “life” the vicious, hungry, zombies from the show.

“We want people to experience the same terror of the walker-filled reality our characters faced in seasons one and two – and will continue to face in our third season,” said Greg Nicotero, Co-Executive Producer and Special Effects Make-up Artist for the series. “Our collaboration with Universal Studios’ creative teams is exciting as we work to truly capture the essence of the show.”

“The collaboration with Universal Studios’ creative teams is a fantastic cross-promotional opportunity and a great way to capture the spirit of the series, which makes its season three debut on AMC this October,” said Linda Schupack, AMC’s Executive Vice President of Marketing.

“‘The Walking Dead’ puts real people in incredibly horrific situations where they experience true, raw fear, and guests at Halloween Horror Nights experience the same thing,” said Jim Timon, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Universal Orlando Resort. “We can’t wait to merge the two powerful concepts together.”

“With ‘The Walking Dead,’ we want to make fans of the series feel like they are literally walking in the footsteps of the show’s characters, experiencing all of the horrific events from the series just as they experienced them,” said John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood. “The goal is to make guests of Halloween Horror Nights feel like they are trapped in the world of ‘The Walking Dead,’ using all of the attention to detail and movie-quality production values that Halloween Horror Nights has become famous for. You’re no longer sitting on a couch, watching a show… you’re living it!”

Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights events have a more than 20-year history of creating incredibly entertaining, horrifying Halloween experiences that are consistently rated the nation’s best. The events on each coast feature highly-themed, disturbingly real, haunted mazes based on everything from film to nightmares — and streets filled with hundreds of specially trained “scare actors.”  ”

Anchor Bay to Distribute The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse

Filed Under (Zombie Movies) by Cosmo on 20-07-2012

” Anchor Bay Films announced today the acquisition of distribution rights in the English-speaking territories (U.S., Canada, UK, Australia-New Zealand) for The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse, a new animated motion picture based on the comic book by the same name from Dynamite Entertainment Comics. Produced by Shoreline Entertainment, the film debuted this past weekend at Comic-Con International.

“’The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse’ premiered at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday night to a sold out, raucous and cheering crowd,” stated Morris Ruskin, producer of the film and CEO of Shoreline Entertainment, Inc. “According to co-creator of the comic, Ken Haeser, the fans seemed to really appreciate that the production captured the essence of the graphic novel.”

Check out the trailer after the break!

The film is an adaptation of the underground hit graphic novel by Ken Haeser and Buz Hasson. A guilt-ridden corpse takes on a heavy burden when he agrees to help a Fallen Angel keep the other undead in their graves and powers of evil from corrupting our world.

The nature of the superhero making its transition from the sublime pages of comic books to the magical screens of cinema, however, will be slightly unique this time around. For starters, the title character isn’t your typical caped crusader – he’s a zombie. And he’s not just a typical zombie, either. He’s a contentious, imposing citizen of the walking dead club with an intact memory from when he was alive, and a mission to protect the Earth from other brain-sucking flesh-eaters.

The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse, which was directed by Justin Ritter, produced by Ritter and Ruskin and Executive Produced by Eduardo Castro, Eileen Craft, Darcy Feld and Dennis Sonnenschein, took three years to animate and was rendered in state-of-the-art RealD 3D. ”

25 Famous Video Game Characters Re-Imagined As Zombies

Filed Under (Zombie Movies) by Cosmo on 18-07-2012

It’s always an amazing feeling seeing your favourite video game characters dead. Oh wait… don’t be shocked, I actually meant undead i.e zombies. We have compiled a list of such characters who clearly have their brains taken away from them, and in a way, it’s a bit distrubing. Deviantart user Go Maxpower is a pure artist. This user has literally re-imagined famous video game characters in to walking dead (zombies).

For example, Sonic is such a lovable character, but here, in his zombified avatar, you won’t really find him all that cute and attractive – same goes for Cloud. The creativity on display here is also a testament to the artist’s capabilities at modifying a loved character into something gruesome and unappealing, however, we think you will like what we have to show here, so check them out. ”

ASSASSIN’S CREED, The Movie

Michael Fassbender To Star In ASSASSIN’S CREED, The Movie

Michael Fassbender’s run couldn’t last forever! So far even the actor’s paycheck gigs have been strong showings*, but now he’s gone and gotten himself attached to a movie in that most toxic of all genres: video game adaptations.

Fassbender will star in and produce an adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, a game that’s sort of like a first person  Prince of Persia with a hood and without fun. It’s a pretty popular franchise, so I’m in the minority when I say that I found the game impossibly dull and repetitive, and that the storyline was hugely unmemorable. With one exception: the whole game has this bizarre book end where a guy gets put into a memory machine that allows him to live out the actions of his distant relative Altaïr ibn-La’Ahad, who was an assassin in the Holy Land way back in Crusades time. I don’t know why the developers thought the wrap around was a good idea at all, but I think it would be funny if Fassbender only played the modern day dude, Desmond and someone way less famous played Altair.

Of course that’s hugely unlikely. Side thought: will people complain that honky Fassbender is playing brown face in this movie, taking on a role that should go to an Arabic actor?

Ubisoft will be financing the film independently.

Let’s talk about the wisdom of doing a video game movie in the first place. I don’t believe this is a good genre in general. Very, very few video games are suited to cinema; the fact that the visual language of games usually apes the visual language of cinema makes people think games would make good movies, but I fundamentally disagree. The whole point of a game like Assassin’s Creed is to be doing what Altair is doing – climbing very tall towers, sneaking up on guys, surreptitiously sneaking in and out of places. Everything surrounding the gameplay is junk, more or less. And this, honestly, is the case with 99% of games. There’s some nice design work, the occasional intriguing character, but almost never a truly engaging narrative. And the few that do have engaging narratives utilize the length of video games to really make the narrative work – think of the Mass Effect series, or Red Dead Redemption.  ”

Oscar Winner Ernest Borgnine Dead at 95

Filed Under (Zombie Movies) by Cosmo on 09-07-2012

sad news indeed :(

R.I.P  ernest, thanks for all the memories

” Veteran actor Ernest Borgnine passed away earlier today at the age of 95 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, reportedly due to renal failure.

Born on January 24, 1917, Borgnine was an instantly recognizable veteran of the big and small screen who began appearing in films in the early ’50s before being cast in the Oscar and Golden Globe-winning title role in the 1955 film Marty.

Sadly, it would be the only Oscar nomination of his career, although he would be nominated for three Emmys including one for his ongoing role in the popular ’60s television show “McHale’s Navy.” Borgnine appeared in many classic films of the ’60s, including The Wild Bunch and The Dirty Dozen, continuing to work through the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, always being in demand even if it was just for smaller roles.

Borgnine would appear in literally hundreds of movies and television shows over his career, and in 2011, he was given a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award by the Screen Actors Guild.
