[How-2] Stop Downloading the same map files.

Post by DeepImpact »

LOTD Players.. Stop Downloading the same map files from servers.

* You must set the PurgeCacheDays or else all downloaded files from servers older than 30 days will auto delete.
* Which is fine if you like downloading maps instead of playing them.. haha. O_O

1: OPEN up LOTD.ini in NOTEPAD. ........( lotd.ini is In your lotd game folder: /system/ )
2: Change PurgeCacheDays=30 TO:
3: PurgeCacheDays=0
4: Click File>Save.. and your done.

Now you won't download the same maps from servers every 30 days. :D awesome.

You can also set it to any other number that you would like.
It all depends on how much drive space that you want to use for lotd.
Move your mouse over the lotd folder /Cache/ to see how much drive space it's using up.

PurgeCacheDays=0 - means that the downloaded server files will never auto delete.
PurgeCacheDays=360 - means that the downloaded files older than 360 days will auto delete.

----> I just saved you a ton of time downloading the same map files. ;)

* This does not cause any file problems. If the server has an updated file. Lotd will download the updated file.

-------------------------------------------
Notice: For Home LOTD Server runners using LOTD Configuration Editor.
If you are using LOTD Configuration Editor. In your server.ini that you have made...
You want to change the PurgeCacheDays to 0 before launching your home server.
Or it will auto delete your cache thats older than 30 days.. ouch. yeah.. been there. whoops.

Thanks for posting it mate. It will be of much help to new players :)

While I dont recommend players to rely on the Cache folder, and i suggest they get the real files when they are released in map packs, this should always be set so it will never expire, because as you said, waiting around to download files is a waste of time when you could play instead. It also saves bandwidth on the servers redirect, even if nowadays this is rarely a problem with most hosts.
